This post-bachelor programme leads to the title Chief Sustainability Officer and consists of two annual courses: CSO Manager and CSO Executive. You can complete both tracks or - with sufficient prior education and experience - enter directly into CSO Executive.

The two tracks

Two annual courses, one register programme

CSO Manager

CSO Manager is intended for professionals with limited experience in sustainability (0-2 years). You learn to apply sustainability at operational and tactical level and develop skills in leadership, reporting and innovation.

Modules
  • GHG Footprints, LCA & CSRD: Working with ESRS standards, footprint analyses and LCA calculations.
  • Circulair Design & Biomimicry: Applying circular materials, biomimicry, Cradle-to-Cradle and circular design principles.
  • Future Leadership: Sustainable leadership, change management and organisational development. Steering towards future-proof operations.

CSO Executive

CSO Executive is intended for professionals with several years of experience in sustainability and/or management. You deepen your knowledge of strategy development, systems thinking, policy development and guiding transitions.

Modules
  • ESG Governance & Climate Policy: National and international sustainability frameworks and their impact on business operations.
  • Nature's Intelligence Businessmodel: Sustainable business models based on systems thinking and natural principles.
  • Transition Management: Leading organisational transitions and participation models.

Structure and costs

The Chief Sustainability Officer register programme consists of two annual tracks. Each track comprises three modules that conclude with a practical exam. After successfully completing the three modules, a final test follows per course. Upon completion of both courses, you receive the Registered Chief Sustainability Officer diploma and can be included in the CSO register.

Exemption and direct entry

Do you have relevant education and demonstrable experience in sustainability or management? Then you can obtain an exemption for CSO Manager and enter directly into CSO Executive. In that case, successfully completing CSO Executive is sufficient to obtain the Registered CSO diploma. Admission takes place via an intake interview and portfolio assessment.
